Cordelia said she'd meet me here. I couldn't find her, at least not quite yet. Perhaps she wanted it to be darker, for clandestine reasons. As long as she shows.
I don't think I can pull this off without her. But my Master has asked, and he shall be given.
"Where in the hell are you Giles?"
It was faint, but I heard it.
Time to play "Rupert" instead of Ripper. I stopped walking, and waited to be caught up with.
Just when I was ready to give up, I see him right in front of me.
"Where the hell have you been?" I ask as I stop in front of him and shake my head.
"We've been searching for you for probably about an hour or more!"
"I've been busy," I sighed, but not much. "What can I do for you? It's been a long day so far. Is there information on the big bad?"
I tried to keep a serious look on my face, but it was hard. I wondred how much I could get away with, and decided to try.
After the next question, of course.
"We know that it's like a ghost but nothin' much old man. Dawn's being research girl and trying to find out more. Busy with what?" I could smell...Buffy on him. I sighed deeply and guessed he was doing training of some sort.
"Been training with the Slayer?"
"Yes, yes. She had some training we worked on. I believe that is what she is doing now. Perhaps you should help her?" I was obviously distracted.
And I hoped to whatever would listen to me now, that Spike couldn't tell. When he'd been souless, he might have known. But now...
"I do have some work to do Spike, is there anything else you need?"
"Well, we were wondering if you knew anything about the thing running around. Calls itself the bloody First?" I could sense that he had his mind on other things but I just needed the information that we wanted.
"It's threatened the 'bit!"
"It threatened Dawn? It seems more re-viewing, and studying it is in order. Just don't let her be alone." I'd have to ask master.
Maybe have I got the babies, he'd be willing to make a deal with me, not to hurt Dawn.
There was still a part of me that cared.
"Dawn mentioned that...Buffy has faced this thing before, with Angel. Do you remember anything?" I just wanted the bloody information so we could somehow get rid of this thing and move onto the next big bad.
"Well, she's alone now but she's got it covered...I think." I was a little unsure about it now...
"If it is what it was then, there is no defeating it. It is pure, malevolent Evil. A concept, not a physical being. Best to leave it alone. But don't leave Dawn along, there is no protection."
I then turned, and tried to scurry, for that was really what I was doing, one more time.
I titled my head and watched him sod off like I wasn't even here. I was tempted to go after him but I was lazy.
"Where do you think you're going? I'm not down yet!" I yelled at him.
"I am" I yelled back through the trees. Some vampire. Maybe that soul made it harder for him to tell the good guys from the bad, but I wasn't sticking around to be sure.
I can't save Buffy, I don't believe, but I'll do what I can to save Dawn. Even kidnap babies.
"Bloody hell." I muttered as I threw my arms up into the air and turned around, now on a mission to find Faith.
"Bloody bugger just walks off. Acting might strange...very strange."
